Our latest investment, Identity of Fields (IOF), is a cutting-edge solution that combines IoT, image recognition, and blockchain technologies to help participants in the agricultural value chain tackle three significant challenges:

  • Security and quality control for stored grains, protecting against climate risk, theft and vandalism and quality loss.
  • High immobilization of capital and lack of visibility required by third parties to generate liquidity of the assets.
  • Lack of certification at origin and the provision of real-time, continuous information to allow traceability of stored or sown grain, livestock, and other products in the related value chain.

IOF has designed and implemented various solution packages tailored to the requirements of their different customer segments.

At the core of their solution is the deployment of a LoRaWAN network that is ideal for remote sensing, thanks to its long-range, low-cost, and low-power consumption capabilities. Real time data is collected from remote sensors (harvest, storage, weather, groundwater), generating valuable information, dashboards, alerts, AI predictive models and the ability to digitize different processes.

The opportunity for IOF in Argentina and Brazil alone is substantial, with more than $50 billion worth of grain stored on farms, over $150 billion in future grain crops (sown fields), and almost $200 billion in livestock. All of these high-value assets are at risk, immobilized, and illiquid, with no traceability, providing the foundation for building a new economy of assets on the field. The solution provided by IOF not only improves operating and financial conditions for all participants but also enables a more sustainable production and distribution system.

IOF is led by a well-rounded team with significant experience in building successful startups and holding leadership positions in corporations. The team is composed of founders and managers with a stake in the game, supported by a strong advisory board. Their technical expertise in developing and deploying communication products and networks, combined with their ability to generate and close deals with key players in Argentina and Brazil, are the main factors that support the potential of this new investment.
